🇺🇸 Court filing reveals Trump's 2020 playbook

🇺🇸
Court filing reveals Trump's 2020 playbook: declare victory regardless of votes, treat election results as obstacles, not outcomes. Adviser predicted Trump would claim win prematurely. Trump sidelined truthful advisers, embraced baseless theories. "It doesn't matter if you won or lost," he allegedly said, "You still have to fight like hell." Filing suggests similar strategy may be in play for 2024, with RNC lawsuits and false claims about immigrant voting already surfacing.

As rioters stormed Capitol with Pence inside, Trump allegedly said ‘So what?’

The much-anticipated 165-page filing from special counsel Jack Smith offers a searing portrayal of Trump just a month before the 2024 election. It describes in more extensive detail than before how many people — including Vice President Mike Pence, party and state leaders, his own campaign officials, his own campaign lawyers, and others — told Trump there was no proof the election was stolen, and how Trump nonetheless waged a campaign to overturn the result.

DOJ blames Trump quite directly for the January 6 riot. When he addressed his supporters that day, he "knew that he had only one last hope to prevent Biden's certification as President: the large and angry crowd standing in front of him." So he delivered a speech "designed to inflame" them.

Reading this latest Jack Smith filing, it occurred to me that people haven’t quite internalized the reality that in all three cases touching on the insurrection on January 6—by far the darkest day for our democracy since the Civil War—the Supreme Court sided with the insurrectionists in all three.

there are a fair amount of new details in the jack smith filing, but imo a lot of its power is just putting everything that has been reported in dribs and drabs—or forgotten since the jan 6 committee hearings—in one place
